Natsume Yuujin Chou

Celebrate good times, come on! This is my very first drawing made entirely with my new tablet!!! Yay! This is my first tablet, and I received it for Christmas, but for all these months, I didn't dare to try it, it looked too complicated But I guess I just couldn't resist the animal magnetism of Nyanko-sensei (the fat cat)...

Natsume Yuujin Chou (Natsume and the Book of Friends, or in French Le Pacte des Yokai) is one of my favorite animes! For those who don't know it, the story is about a young boy, Takashi Natsume, who has the power to see Yokai ("demons" in Japanese folklore). His grandmother, Reiko, also had this power, and she used to challenge Yokai and force them to write their names in a book, in order to gain control over them. Now that Takashi has inherited this book, he is constantly harassed by Yokai who either want to steal it, or ask him to give them their names back (on this picture, Natsume is giving back a name, written on the paper he has in his mouth). Some of these demons are funny or cute, but others are very scary and cruel, that's why Nyanko-sensei is here to protect Natsume: he looks like a Maneki Neko (Fortune Cat) but he actually is a very powerful demon called Madara, that looks like a giant white fox with a deep, sexy voice ^^ He claims to do this to get the book at Natsume's death, but there certainly is a strong friendship between these two... I am currently reading the manga, but I can say the anime is really like no other. It has a unique atmosphere that I have never felt in other series, sometimes hilarious, sometimes scary, but above all very soft and poetic, mostly due to the pastel tones. I heard that a 3rd season is planned in July, I can't wait!
